Little Sketch

Often times I find little drawings on Dawson's art table. She loves any kind of blank page notebooks. This morning when I came downstairs, I found this one torn out of a tiny notebook. I asked her about it and she told me it was her and Ella going for a walk. Then she told me she now has curly hair because she likes curls! I love finding these around the house!

Hayride Adventure

My sister and I took advantage of a chilly, sunny day and headed out to the pumpkin patch with the kids. Since it was cold and rainy last weekend, I think everyone had the same idea today! We ran around, rode a train and went on a hayride in search of some pumpkins.

Running in a maze....she never stops running these days! Even in her skirts which by the way, she has been choosing her outfits lately if you haven't noticed!

Since it has been raining a lot, there was a lot of mud. As we were headed back to the farm, we got stuck a few times and then we were really stuck. We had to evacuate the trailer to get unstuck! What an adventure!

Fall Festivities

We headed out for our annual Fall Festival on Sunday. It was 82 degrees and HOT out but, I'm not complaining. The meteorologists are already reporting a very snowy and cold winter so we should enjoy the warmth while it lasts! The girls were busy running through corn mazes, riding horses, going on hayrides, jumping in bounce houses, decorating pumpkins and eating lots of Halloween treats.

There was an amazing face painter doing all kinds of crazy things to the kids faces and hair. This mom does not like face paint so we did a beautiful spider on her arm. I was once told by some artists that children should see the art taking place so the arm is a good place to watch it happen!

Of course, my animal lover had to ride the horses 3 times. I couldn't get a front picture because they kept moving too fast! She looks like a natural!

LIght Up Lantern Festival

We walked up and down a small street, where a famous local art gallery resides, looking at all kinds of lanterns. The girls saw a pirate ship, Thumbelina, a teapot, Alice in Wonderland and all kinds of other lantern creations. As we walked up and down, they just looked in amazement and made a few creations of their own.

We did get to create a firefly lantern. Dawson put the eyes on, made a face, added pipe cleaner wings and put a mini glowstick inside the container.

This was a coloring booth with glow in the dark art supplies. We weren't into coloring on the table but we did like using the black dry erase board.

I drew the pumpkin on the right first and then Dawson drew the one on the left. I thought her pumpkin was cute!

The girls even drew with 3-D chalk. They would draw something then put on the glasses to see what happens to their art. Fun!

The festival had another station where the kids could decorate their own lanterns. We liked the stickers and the markers for our decorations.

Crafty Sunday

Lynn and Grace came over today for a few crafts. The girls were painting lanterns for the Light Up Lantern Festival next Saturday night. We will be parading around the festival looking at various lanterns focusing on the theme "Tell Me a Story." From what I have read, these are quite elaborate and extremely cool to see. We just wanted the girls to create something of their own at an age appropriate level! They were perfect lanterns for two four year old girls!

When they were finished, we turned on the battery powered lights and put them in the bathroom. Both Lynn and I were trying to get pictures of the lanterns in the dark but, couldn't get the flash on our cameras to stop flashing. We will have to figure that out before the real festival.

When the lanterns were done, I caught a few quick Fall photos. Check back next week and see some pictures from the Lantern Festival. We can't wait!

School Picture

I've never been a fan of school pictures because I don't like poses. Of course, even if I don't like them, I must buy them to share with my family and keep track of her school years. Last year, her preschool had walk in photos on a day we did not have school so she was not interested at all in sitting down and posing for a picture. We didn't get a single picture! This year, she got to go with her class and her teachers and we did get a picture. I see a little smile peeking through!

I think they are cute but, I am her mom!!!!
