April 28th, 2009

Just took a few pictures a few minutes ago. Dawson found her pumpkin socks from Halloween in Ella's (the dog) toy basket and decided to put them on herself. I have been looking for those forever! I wanted to share with everyone her fabulous sense of style tonight! She was loving her baby's hat and showing off her socks! About the baby doll, tonight is the first night she was actually being nice to her baby doll. She usually carries it on her shoulder and then tosses her aside when something better comes along. There is hope for her to starting loving her babies!!!

Tonight we went to my school's Spring Dance. The dance is for children in grades K-5 and is only two hours long. When we walked in, the DJ had the kids dancing and the music was blasting! I didn't know how Dawson was going to react to the chaos. She actually just stared at everyone and took everything. UNTIL...she saw Miss Bonnie! Bonnie is Dawson's babysitter and she LOVES her. I couldn't ask for a better person or family to spend her days with. You can tell how much Bonnie loves her just from the picture. Sorry Bonnie, we didn't mean to bug you on your night off tonight! In the above picture, I think Dawson is telling Bonnie "um on." Short for "come on."

Our friends Lynn and Grace gave us this little green man. We planted grass seed in his head and have been watching it grow. Each day Dawson touches the grass and says "hair." Then she points to the dirt and says "yuck!" Well, tonight she was carrying him around like a doll and accidently dropped him on the corner of the table. She saw him break and instead of crying said "oh man" about three times. I couldn't stop laughing. If your child goes to child care you can relate....whenever you hear something unusual, you can usually figure out where they learned it! The other picture is just some random cuteness!

The swingset is up and being put to good use already.  It took two guys (one builds houses for a living) twelve hours to put this thing together.  They started at 8:30 and ended at 8:30!  I could never imagine it ever taking so long!!!  Six boxes later we have a wonderful, new swingset and we are LOVING IT!!!  It was hard getting any good pictures because Dawson was running around from one thing to the next and wouldn't stay in one place at all!  If you notice, some of my pictures are of the back of her head!

I hung the swing very low so she can get used to getting on and off on her own!

We practice this at the Little Gym!

Here is Dawson giving a screw a ride in her swing!  She thought it was soooo funny!

Dawson helping me finish off the rock wall!  What a good helper!

Happy Easter!  We celebrated Easter a few times between yesterday and today.  We are finally home now and napping.  When Dawson wakes up, we are going to head outside and just enjoy the weather the rest of the day!  Here are a few pictures from our Easter festivities!

A mouthful of jelly beans!  I love this picture.  What a way to sum up EASTER!  YUM!

Look what the Easter Bunny left us.  Notice, she only has one piece of candy mom!!

Just playing with some Easter toys.

I think she likes chocolate!

Let the Easter Egg hunt begin!

Here is Dawson and her cousin Sophia.  They were taking a break from eating and coloring for a few minutes.

April 11th, 2009

This morning we met Lynn and Grace at the zoo for a stroller safari.  This is a program held for children ages birth to three at the Akron Zoo.  The theme this time was "Monkey Business."  I find it interesting that the zoo does not have any monkeys and is holding a program about them.  So instead of monkeys we learned about primates and focused on Lemurs.
When we first arrived, Grace and Dawson had the chance to explore and play with the puppets, do a craft, look at the animals or color.  Here is what Dawson started out doing!

They were both very busy coloring and exploring the plastic animals.

Here is Dawson petting Chloe.  She is a four year old Kinkajou.

We did get the chance to venture out into the zoo and see some real lemurs.  They were very active this morning.

At the end of the day, we stopped in the zoo office while our friend Lynn was checking on something.  I happened to pick-up a flyer on birthday parties and Dawson really wanted to know more about it!  Since she will be two in June, maybe she can invite two friends?  How about it Lynn and Grace!!!!

Happy Easter, Happy Gotcha Day, Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday Dawson!
(for the next few years! Just kidding!)
I decided to go out today and buy her a swingset.  She is such a climber and she loves the playground so much, we decided to get one for ourselves.  I can't wait until it goes up next week!  I wonder what she will think!

Time for a change....Dawson is no longer a baby so I had to take off the baby pictures and update my blog to the new TODDLER pictures!  I can't believe she has almost been home a year.  She has certainly grown up.  Let me know what you think of our new LOOK!

April 5th, 2009

Today we colored our Easter Eggs.  We started out with three dozen eggs and ended up with about 2 1/2 dozen.  When I handed Dawson two white hard boiled eggs, she looked at them for a minute and then squeezed them.  Two down!  After we colored the eggs, she carried a few more eggs around and dropped them.  Four more eggs down!  I know she is a little young to color eggs, but she really enjoyed watching the eggs go from white to a color.  She was so surprised to see what happened to the eggs when she put them in a color.  We did have one spill all over her tray.  Not bad for a little one!

April 4th, 2009

We headed over to Barnes and Nobles for some fun activities with our friend Gretchen.  The Little Gym and Jumpstart (an Akron University program that helps low income 3-5 year old children) had a small fundraiser at the store today.  If you bought any books, each organization made 5%.  You know me....I had to buy new books!  Dawson loves books so I love to support this habit.  I'm thinking the new books might appear in her Easter basket.  Here she is doing a cloud picture.  It was her first experience with liquid glue.  Dawson looks quite proud of herself!  The other pictures are just some parachute fun!
